We successfully represent clients in many types of civil litigation.
We work with clients to defend all aspects of their property rights, including boundary disputes, ownership disputes, and right of way and easement rights.
We prosecuted a case involving a “spite fence,” both at trial and through the appeal process, before the Maine Supreme Court. We made new law in Maine in this area. See Peters v O’Leary, Law Court Docket No. YOR-10-594.
Land Use and Zoning
We appear on behalf of clients before area zoning boards of appeal seeking to reverse adverse zoning and land use decisions.
We represent home owners and contractors in litigating disputes over the quality of the construction of homes and commercial buildings. We successfully represented the owners of an area golf course in a dispute with a contractor over the cost of expanding the golf course from nine to eighteen holes.
Consumer and Business Disputes
We represent individuals and all kinds of businesses in disputes like breaches of contract, collection of debt and unfair trade practices.
We represent both landlords and tenants in disputes over rights to occupy property and failure to pay rent.
Probate Disputes, including Will Contests
We represent individuals who contest or defend a will or who are involved in disputes over other probate matters like guardianships and conservatorships.
